SIMMONS
COLLEGE
SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK
"I learned to be vocal in places where people of color wouldn't necessarily have a voice. Now, I think of myself as a community leader. I have the effective skills and administrative training to move things." _Ayanna Kilpatrick '01SW
For a century, the Simmons College School of Social Work has maintained a
commitment to empower society’s most vulnerable members, to promote social justice, and to protect the health and well being of individuals, families
and communities by providing an exceptional educational experience to the hundreds of human service providers who enter its classrooms.
Responding to social work trends is a Simmons tradition. In 1904, Simmons
was the nation's first institution of higher learning to offer training for clinical
social workers. Simmons was at the forefront of educating students for medical social work, and for managed care practice. Today we address
contemporary issues with our innovative M.S.W./Hebrew College Certificate Program, Urban Leadership Program, One Year Placement
Options, Advance Standing Option for B.S.W graduates and Spanish language courses for social workers. Our flexible scheduling and full-time
and part-time study options are designed and available to accommodate working professionals. Our goal is to provide an education that anticipates
the needs of the communities we serve and demonstrates our commitment to providing students with the tools and expertise they need for success.
Our nationally accredited and recognized master of social work
(M.S.W.) program provides exceptional preparation in clinical social work. Our doctoral program prepares advanced clinical scholars who will contribute to
and disseminate the profession's knowledge base as practitioners, educators, researchers, consultants, and administrators in a variety of professional
settings. Above all, Simmons School of Social Work is highly regarded for its practical approach to fieldwork, strongly emphasizing field education with
three days a week placement both years. This allows students to interact very early and often with clients and agencies during the program.
What makes us unique? The Simmons College School of Social Work is
unique in many ways — innovative programs, distinguished faculty, an alumni network, and an ideal Boston location. We, uphold an educational
promise to students which means that the focus is on you. We offer a learning experience that is highly collaborative and much more personal than that of
large universities. You'll have direct, frequent access to faculty who know your name and understand your aspirations and passion. And you'll work
closely with classmates in an engaging, supportive environment. We want you to succeed!
Diversity at Simmons: Vision

with the leadership and analytical skills needed by our graduates to make their own critical and constructive contributions as professionals, scholars
and engaged citizens, Simmons College broadly defines diversity to include race, gender, national origin, ethnicity, religion, social class, age, sexual
orientation, and physical and learning ability. The college is committed to embracing diversity. With a diverse faculty and student body, Simmons
